Proposed addition about rejected emails[edit]

I sometimes see emails from us being rejected by spam filters and the like. In some environments those filters are applied by default, and users who are not tech-savvy might need to be reminded. On that ground I propose to add:

Agents might ask for additional information from you in a reply to your email. Be prepared to respond in a timely manner, and make sure that your email client is not rejecting emails coming from <tvar name=1><code>wikimedia.org</code></tvar>.

This could perhaps be phrased differently, but in general I think people might not realize what the entire procedure will look like and might be confused as to what they might have to do after sending an email. whym (talk) 11:14, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Liuxinyu970226: Could you elaborate? I don't know what concerns you might have in relation to the policy change you linked to. Are you thinking about the possibility of an agent being forced by a government into asking for private information from people? whym (talk) 12:09, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Whym Here is an example that I have known: Shizhao has been removed from global VRT permissions group *per WMF Legal request*. This is just what I'm concerning here. Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 14:07, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I understand there are such issues happening. What I don't understand is how it affects the proposal here. Perhaps I should clarify that I only meant to document the already existing practices. It is my understanding that agents have routinely asked followup questions for clarification regardless of whether it is made explicit here or not. In the most simple case the question might be "I don't know which file this permission is for, is it File X or File Y?". Are you saying that agents should stop doing that for the time being? whym (talk) 13:19, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Symbol oppose vote.svg Oppose Users who are not tech-savvy likely will not understand what you are talking about, or will have no influence on the filter settings. Keep it simple. If somebody rejects our answers or followup questions, this is primarily their problem, not ours. --Krd 13:29, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We can cut it off at "... in a timely manner", if the succeeding part about filters seems redundant. Would that make it simple enough? At least the remaining part would clarify what one should expect after sending a first email, which I think is missing in the document. --whym (talk) 13:19, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Language specific address"?[edit]

Would that be possible to link or list language specific addresses there? I kept looking for them for some time and could not find them easily....  « Saper // @talk »  11:58, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
